Ruth Franklin is an English painter who lives in the Deep South. She was born in Kent, England and studied at Brighton Art School in the eighties. Ruth has always maintained her identity as a painter and has stuck to her own ideas about what makes a good painting. She has continued over the past thirty years to push around paint in her own way, reveling in the process to create evocative and compelling pictures. Ruth has twice been voted 'Best Visual Artist' in Atlanta (2019 & 2014) by the readers of Creative Loafing and she was nominated for the prestigious United States Artists Fellowship in 2016. She works seven days a week at her Decatur, Georgia studio - six miles east of downtown Atlanta. She is represented by Different Trains Gallery. Click here if you have any inquiries.
